The 27-year-old, who moved to Kenilworth Road earlier this season, has been an integral part in Hatters’ run of one defeat in 13 league games, and is up against Exeter striker Tom Nichols, Southend winger David Worrall and former Luton forward Aaron O’Connor, now at Newport County.

On Doyle’s nomination, the League’s sponsors said: “The deep-lying central midfielder took the pressure off others with a series of authoritative displays.

“Doyle provides the perfect shield for Luton’s back four with his ability to read play, break up opposing attacks and set team-mates free.”

Doyle will be hoping to emulate team-mates Luke Wilkinson and Mark Cullen who won the award for September and October, with the winner announced on Friday, December 5.

Meanwhile, the manager of the month award, which went to Towns boss John Still in October is between Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe), Phil Brown (Southend), Justin Edinburgh (Newport) and Micky Mellon (Shrewsbury).
