The 28-year-old has made 43 appearances for Luton since joining on a free transfer from Bradford City last season.

Doyle, who was named the club’s player of the season, as voted for by members of Luton Town Supporters’ Club and Trust in Luton last term, said: “Last season I came in late without having a proper pre-season so I had to hit the ground running and I thought we should have at least made the play-offs.

“We’ve got a strong squad now and definitely improved in all areas of the pitch and I can only see this club on an upward curve.”

The former Derby and Hull player missed Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Crawley Town due to an ankle injury.

Boss John Still was hopeful he would be fit to face Barnet this weekend though, saying: “He hurt his ankle in a tackle in the Dagenham game but I think this coming week he should be okay.”
