Drury aiming for Championship after Hatters return

New Hatters signing Andy Drury felt an overwhelming sense of ‘unfinished business’ was behind his return to Luton Town this week.

The 30-year-old made 26 appearances, scoring eight times for Town during the 2010-11 campaign, before a £150,000 switch to Ipswich.

But he never ruled out coming back to Kenilworth Road and finally got his wish when Luton met the clause to release him from his contract at Crawley Town.

Drury said: “I joined here before to get the club out of the Conference and into the Football League and I left before I could really have a chance to do it as I couldn’t turn Ipswich down.”

“I’m happy to be back at a place where I love playing football and hopefully I can get them back up to League One this season.”

Drury has loftier aims than just League One too as he believes Hatters can be a Championship outfit in his time, while dropping back into League Two from Crawley wasn’t an issue either.
