Drury hoping to be fit for Barrow trip

Winger’s calf injury clearing up

INFLUENTIAL winger Andy Drury should have recovered from a calf injury in time for the Hatters’ epic trip to Barrow on Saturday, writes Mark Wood.

Manager Richard Money said: “We hope he will be fit for Saturday and that gives us another option.

“It’s taken a while for the squad to come together. I’m not saying it’s there but it’s developing nicely.

“I think we’ve seen a new Luton Town emerging with more pace, more athleticism, and younger players.”

Speaking after Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat of high-flying Mansfield, he continued: “We will need some fresh legs on Saturday.

“We’ve asked for a big game from our players and they’ve bounced back and they’ve done it again.

“I’ve said already we want to come through this difficult period in a real good position. If we can do that we can really push on from there.”

On the Stags win, he said: “It’s a terrific three points and a first-class performance from the team.

“I’m sure there will be a lot said about what went on throughout the game but despite everything the best team won and deserved to win.

“We made life difficult for ourselves by missing three penalties but there was a lot of quality to our play and a lot of thrust and a lot of movement.”

Money refused to get involved in what happened in the ruckus that erupted just before half time that saw both Mansfield captain Stephen Foster and manager David Holdsworth dismissed.

He said: “I’m not getting involved in that and the referee has made his decisions.

“I didn’t see it. I will do a Wenger. I’ve watched the game in the same way you have.

“There’s no point having just watched the game, as you have, getting myself in trouble.”

And Danny Crow is in no doubt that Luton must add some consistency to their form and win at the weekend.

He added: “It’s massive. We can’t keep beating the likes of Cambridge and AFC Wimbledon and going to Darlington and Gateshead and getting one point from those two games.

“We need to be more consistent and go to the so-called easier places and get the results.

“Last year the players say they left themselves a big test to win the league. Twenty-one points isn’t bad but the next three games we’ve got to win.”
