Drury targets another winning run for Hatters

Hatters midfielder Andy Drury believes if his side can put together the kind of sequence they did earlier in the campaign, they will have every chance of a second successive promotion.

Town went on an 11-game unbeaten league run during September and November, winning nine times to move to the top of the table.

After they picked up an impressive first victory of 2015 with a 1-0 triumph at Plymouth last weekend, Drury said: “We need to go on a run like we did September, October time, where we won seven out of eight.

“If we can do that, then we can firmly establish ourselves in the top three.

“Hopefully we can stay up there, get into the top three and even win it if we can.

“It will be tough, every league is tough to win, but this league does give you the best opportunity when there’s four, three going up automatically and one through the play-offs.

“So if we keep playing like we are, we’ll be all right.”

Drury netted his first goal since returning to Kenilworth Road in the summer and boss John Still felt it was a timely strike ahead of today’s trip to Cheltenham Town.

He added: “He started slowly this year, but picked his form up and his form has been good. He deserved his goal and maybe that will push him on a little bit in the goalscoring.

“His contributions have been good, and he might have scored four of five goals but his form not been great.

“But his form has been good and it’s been a good production line for our attacking play.

“In that loose position, you do need to add goals to it as if you play with one forward, the goals have got to come from somewhere.

“We found with Gutts (Luke Guttridge) from last year, the goals come from there as well. Lets hope Andy can add some more goals to his game as his game is good.”
