Former Luton assistant manager Steve Rutter has been speculatively linked with a return to Kenilworth Road after his odds for the Hatters managerial vacancy were cut to 14/1 this afternoon.

The 57-year-old was named number two to Nathan Jones in October 2018, staying at the club once Jones departed the following January, where he remained a big part of the coaching staff as caretaker Mick Harford led Town to the Championship.

Rutter left in the summer though, turning down an offer to stay from Graeme Jones, joining up with his former Panathinaikos boss, Giannis Anastasiou at Greek Super League outfit Atromitos FC as assistant coach, a position he still holds according to the club's official website.

The former Yeovil Town player and manager has now been put in the running for the job with Luton after SkyBet listed him as 14/1 for the hotseat.

Nathan Jones remains the clear favourite at 1/10 while Harford is 10/1, with Rutter now alongside Chelsea development squad head coach Andy Myers plus former Hull chief Nigel Adkins.

Another ex-Hatter Alan Sheehan is listed at 16/1 a price he shares with Chris Coleman, Steve Robinson, Gareth Ainsworth, Ian Evatt and specialist national coach for the England U21 team, Lee Carsley.
