Graham bemused by Gloucester’s schoolboy defending

Defender left unmarked to score first Hatters goal

GOALSCORING centre-half Luke Graham had no sympathy for Gloucester City after their ‘schoolboy’ defending helped him net a late winner on Friday night, writes Mark Wood.

The 24-year-old defender was making his first start for Luton since signing from Kettering on transfer deadline day and he scored the decisive goal when the Tigers attempted to spring an offside trap at a free-kick – a tactic they had tried earlier in the game – leaving Graham in acres of space to side-foot home with six minutes to go.

On his strike, Graham said: “I’ve timed my run and I wasn’t offside, I know I wasn’t.

“They had tried that schoolboy tactic before. I just held my run and luckily enough Amari (Morgan-Smith) didn’t get in my way.”
