Harriers boss bemused by Money exit

KIDDERMINSTER Harriers manager Steve Burr admitted he couldn’t believe the decision to replace Richard Money as Luton Town manager last week, writes Mike Simmonds.

Money left Kenilworth Road by mutual consent with Gary Brabin taking over, and Burr, who recently signed a three-year deal at Aggborough, said: “If I am honest with you, I find it absolutely outrageous. They are third in the league, they get to the semi-finals of the FA Trophy and the manager loses his job.

“Some of the people running these football clubs today just never cease to amaze me. No-one has got a divine right to be anywhere and it doesn’t matter what sort of money you have put in.

“Everybody is well aware that Luton are a bigger and well supported club than any team in this division, but the fact is that they are in this league and it’s very tough to get out of.

“But that’s up to them, we will concern ourselves with what we do and we will look forward to the game.”

With both sides aiming for a play-off finish this term. a big crowd is expected at Harriers on Saturday and assistant boss Gary Whild hopes his side can use that to their advantage.

He said: “At the start of the season, everyone would have been looking for this fixture.

“That the game has developed into an important one for both sides in terms of the play-offs makes it even more interesting.

“But it’s going to be a big game, played in front of what could be a big crowd, so there’s no doubt it’s going to be a special occasion.

“I think the lads have done their best to make the fans happy and they in turn have done their utmost to support us throughout.

“The fans have been wonderful all season, they have backed us and the lads really appreciate that.

“Anyone who was at the Mansfield game could hear our fans sing their hearts out, which is to their credit.”

Midfielder Tom Shaw is Harriers’ only major injury doubt after he limped off with a bruised foot at Field Mill.

Jack Byrne, who has not played for a month because of suspension, could come back into the side, although Chris McPhee and Callum Gittings are also other midfield options.
