Harris aware Town need to work on the final third

Paul Benson equalised for Town before half time, but with Luton also failing to beat Boreham Wood and Hitchin Town, scoring just once more through Craig Mackail-Smith, Harris said: “We need to be a little bit better in the final third, which I understand and we haven’t really done any final third work at the moment, but it was an excellent work out.

“When you come to these sides you have a lot of the ball, which we had, which means we can keep working.

“We were a little bit deep first half because Mags (Magnus Okuonghae) has just come back after a long, long time out, which is understandable.

“We’ve got to get better in the final third, but that will come, so I’m not too worried about it.”

Striker Zane Banton could have made it a winning day out on the south coast, but missed a couple of presentable opportunities, as Harris continued: “We said to Zane, you need to come back this season, and in pre-season, be pushing for a spot.

“He could have had three or maybe four, but again, we haven’t really done too much in the final third, so we’ll give him that and go back to work on Monday.”

One plus point for Town was the performance of winger Danny Green who became more influential as the game wore on, sending over some penetrating crosses from the right flank, particularly in the latter stages.

Harris added: “His crossing wasn’t too good first half by his own admission.

“Second half I think he found his range and put some great balls over, so that augurs well for the forthcoming season.”
