Luton Town have announced the permanent signing of Walsall striker Elijah Adebayo for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day.

The 23-year-old has netted 10 times so far in League Two this season for the Saddlers, who signed him in the summer of 2019 following his release by Fulham.

Adebayo started his career at Fulham, but only scored for the club's U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy, before moving to Cheltenham on loan, scoring two goals in League Two.

He then went to Swindon, netting five goals in 30 games, before a brief loan stint at Stevenage.

Adebayo headed to Walsall in June 2019 and has scored 18 goals in 65 matches, including two in the 3-1 win at Port Vale recently.

Hatters fought off interest from Championship clubs both in England and Scotland to bring the forward to Kenilworth Road, with manager Nathan Jones saying: "We are delighted to get Elijah on board.

"He is someone who was coveted by a lot of clubs, because he’s one that has massive, massive potential.

“He’s a big physical presence, something that we haven’t got, and he’s someone that we’ve been watching for a while.

“For us to get him shows that once again that we are not just content with signing players for now, but we are looking towards the future and he’s one that will develop here and hopefully become a top player for us.”
