Luton boss Nathan Jones believes it is 'essential' that defender Brendan Galloway finds himself a new club in the final few days of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been informed he can leave Kenilworth Road ahead of Monday's deadline, as he came close to moving to Shrewsbury Town last week, until they brought in Manchester City's Nathanael Ogbeta on an 18-month deal instead.

With the full back out of contract at Town in the summer and a new contract not on the table, giving the latest on the former Everton youngster, who has played just five times for the Hatters after suffering a serious knee injury in November 2019, Jones said: "There's nothing yet.

"We’ve tried to, Brendan needs to play because his game time is going to be limited here with us bringing in Kal (Naismith) and what we have in the building.

“So, it’s essential he plays because he hasn’t played for long, long periods.

"If he doesn’t play or go out and get games then it’s going to be very tough in the summer.”
