Hatters boss slams official over Stockley ‘dive’

Trailing 2-1, Stockley was scythed down in the area by Dave Winfield for what looked to everyone in the ground like a clear spotkick.

However, referee Frederick Graham saw otherwise, producing a yellow card for Stockley, as Still said: “It was a penalty, no doubt.

“Talking to the analysts of both teams may I add, it was a nailed on 100 per cent penalty.

“But there’s nothing I can do about that, I don’t referee the game and he’s got to make the decision.”

Goalkeeper Elliot Justham, making his league debut in place of the injured Mark Tyler, was also as surprised with the decision, as he said: “Everyone said it was a pen, even their players were putting their hands on their heads.

“The bloke’s gone to ground, given the ref a chance to give us a pen and I’m not quite sure what happened there.

“It looked like a stonewall, I can’t believe he booked him for diving too. Jayden said he was going to pull the trigger so no reason to go down.”

Hatters haven’t been awarded a spot kick now since September 27 against Oxford, and Still admitted they have sent a number of incidents to the authorities for clarification since then.

He added: “The referee’s secretary Dave Allison has had five penalties sent by me to them, to ask were they penalties?

“Five times he’s come back and said yes, and this was even more a penalty than all those five.”
