Luton boss Rob Edwards has confirmed that defensive duo Reece Burke and Gabe Osho could be in contention for Monday’s clash with Hull City and the upcoming play-offs after both came through a full training session this morning.

The pair have been absent for Town’s last three games, Burke going off in the 2-0 win at Rotherham United with a groin issue, while Osho hadn’t featured since the 0-0 draw against Millwall on April 7, due to what Edwards labelled an ‘innocuous’ knee injury.

However, with just one game of the regular season to go, there is a chance the pair could be in the squad to face the Tigers, and also available for the play-offs that are just five days away.

Speaking today, Edwards said: “We’re good, we’re in good shape, there were a couple of extra bodies that haven’t been out there for a couple of weeks today, so a real positive.

“He (Osho) trained fully today, same (with Burke).

“We’ll see how they react again later on this afternoon, tomorrow, but that was a real positive day today.”

The fact that the pair have given themselves a chance of being fit is down to the work they have put in away from the pitch and also the efforts of the medical staff at the Brache, as Edwards continued: “Credit first of all to the lads themselves.

“They’ve got to look after themselves now, as to be an elite athlete you’ve got to live it.

"The staff have been brilliant as well, especially in turning around those two players.

“A big effort from the staff and the lads themselves, lets just see where they are in a couple of days time.

"There’s no guarantees with anything yet, but they’re in good shape and the squad itself is as well which is really good.

"Generally when things are going well, you’ve been winning, you find there’s a few less injuries and people want to be out there.”

With treatments like cryotherapy at the Hatters’ disposal and used by the Town players to ensure they have an opportunity in featuring, Edwards insists it’s something that all clubs will do now to aid their players’ recovery.

He said: “It’s not unique to them, it is par for the course now and the work that the medical guys do.

"There's obviously experts in certain fields that we will all lean on and use, all the clubs will be doing the same thing and different sports people will be doing the same sorts of things.

"But there’s cutting edge stuff now that I won’t fully understand that can help and it's just going to keep getting better and better and better.

"It’s because the lads are professional and have done everything that’s been required of them to try and turn this time around and it’s almost gone really quickly.

"If there’s a chance of us being able to select on Monday, that turnaround time has been really, really quick, so a big credit to them and the staff.”

With Osho and Burke now hopefully available, then after Dan Potts had the final seven minutes of Monday’s 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers, it means Luton should have all their defensive options available to them, something that didn’t look possible a few weeks ago.

Edwards added: “It was good, we were able to look after a few people and get some minutes into Pottsy as well, which is really good.”
