Town forward Danny Hylton was thrilled to see his team-mate Luke Berry join him in signing a new contract at Kenilworth Road last week.

The pair both put pen to paper to continue their Luton careers, with Berry making 88 appearances and scoring 12 goals since arriving for an undisclosed free from Cambridge United in August 2017.

One of those strikes came after lockdown, whistling a left-footer into the top corner during the 1-1 draw with Barnsley, as the midfielder produced some starring performance to help Luton stay in the Championship against all odds.

On his team-mate, Hylton, who joined a year beforehand, said: “I think that was one of the terms, I wasn’t going to sign unless they give him one, so I think they had to give him one!

"But Bezza’s a great player, he’s been here three years now and he’s been a massive part of what we’ve achieved and what we’ve done.

“Not only is he a good player, but he’s the right character.

"The manager and the people around the football club are always on about having the right people around the training ground and the right characters.

“He’s a great lad, a great personality.

"I think the last 10 games of the season, he was one of our best players, so he’s been rewarded for that.”
