Hatters keeper Sluga wins his third cap as Croatia hold Turkey in six-goal thriller

Luton stopper Simon Sluga won his third cap as a makeshift Croatia side missing several first team regulars held Turkey to a thrilling 3-3 draw in Istanbul this evening.

Ahead of Saturday's visit to Sweden and Tuesday's home game against the Portuguese in the Nations League, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic made a host of changes for this international friendly, which included giving Sluga a long overdue start, his first appearance in almost a year.

Cenk Tosun fired Turkey ahead with a 23rd-minute penalty before Ante Budimir took advantage of some sloppy defending and levelled just after the half hour.

Deniz Turuc put the home side back in front shortly before half-time, beating Sluga with a superb shot from a tight angle into the far corner.

World Cup runners-up Croatia roared back after the break with two goals in the space of three minutes, Mario Pasalic grabbing a 53rd-minute equaliser and then Josip Brekalo glancing home his header at the near post.

Cengiz Under then hauled Turkey on level terms before the hour mark from the edge of the area, as neither side could go on and find a winner in the closing stages.
