Luton midfielder Joe Morrell played the full 90 minutes for Wales as they picked up a valuable 1-0 victory in their World Cup 2022 qualifier against Czech Republic in Cardiff last night.

The 24-year-old was winning his 14th cap for his country, as the visitors had the better of the first period, with striker Jakub Jankto unable to make the most of his opportunities, while Gareth Bale couldn't find the net for Wales either.

Czech striker Patrik Schick was shown a straight red card early in the second half for an incident with Connor Roberts, who was then dismissed on 77 minutes for his second booking.

However, Wales won it when Bale's cross was turned home by Manchester United winger Daniel James with 11 minutes remaining for the only goal of the game

The result moved Wales up to third in Group E, one point behind their opponents and four adrift of leaders Belgium, having played one game fewer than both.

Speaking afterwards, assistant boss Rob Page said: "Coming into the camp, being greedy we wanted four points (from the two games) but we would have absolutely taken three points at the start of it.

"Certainly after the result we had last week and with the Czech Republic drawing with Belgium.

"We knew a win would put us in a nice place in the group and it's absolutely done that."
