Hatters rated v Cambridge

Mark Tyler: 6.5 - Wonderful save from McGeehan not picked up by the officials and for once was slightly tentative as the U’s laid siege in the second period.

Michael Harriman: 6.5 - Will be disappointed that both goals came from moves starting on his flank. Couldn’t quite help his side get out during the second half either.

Scott Griffiths: 7.5 - Kept Donaldson quiet for the majority of the game and always willing to help out going forward too. Sacrificed late on as Luton moved back to a 4-4-2 formation.

Luke Wilkinson: 8 - Such a shame injury forced him off when it did as he was back to his very dominant best. Excellent distribution and a goal too. Hopefully will be available for Oxford.

Steve McNulty: 7 - Did well aerially as ever up against an imposing opponent in Elliott. Can’t have been happy that Hatters were cut open as easily as they were though.

Nathan Doyle: 7.5 - Had a real ding dong battle with McGeehan throughout that finished honours even. As ever, kept possession ticking once more in the heart of Town’s midfield.

Jonathan Smith: 7 - His luck was in when Dunn couldn’t handle his low shot and switched the play effectively at times while never missing the chance to get stuck in.

Andy Drury: 7 - In the right place to put Hatters ahead and add another goal that his manager had been after. Could have used his ability on the ball more to relieve tension during a nervy second period though.

Jake Howells (STAR MAN): 8 - Excellent on the left hand side, particularly in the first half as United struggled to cope with him. Real livewire performance and instrumental in Luton’s opener. Much more like it.

Shaun Whalley: 6.5 - Ran at his full back when the chance arose and got into a number of dangerous situations, but his crosses couldn’t quite find their mark.

Jayden Stockley: 7 - Won a number of long balls as he was Luton’s main get out option, but found it tough going without a natural striker alongside him for large chunks.

Fraser Franks (SUB): 6.5 - Tough time to come on as Cambridge took the attack to Luton as Town’s defence had some rare moments of shakiness.

Alex Lawless (SUB): 5.5 - Lack of match sharpness was apparent as U’s almost snatched a late winner.

Mark Cullen (SUB): 5.5 - Brought on to pep up the attack, but Hatters could barely get out of their own half.
