Hatters rated v Cambridge United

Mark Tyler: 7.5 - Late inclusion after Still admitted Justham would have played but for his partner giving birth. Keeper did excellently though throughout, making one fine stop from Corr in particular.

Stephen O’Donnell: 7 - Getting more assured by the game as he was up against a tough opponent in Donaldson. Once the final ball is sorted out though, could be a real threat going forward too.

Scott Griffiths: 7 - Solid showing on his 100th appearance for the side. Kept the danger to a minimum from his flank too and produced some terrific clearing headers too.

Luke Wilkinson: 7 - Centre half found it tough against Corr and Simpson, particularly in the first period, before eventually winning his personal battle after the break. Towering leap for a rare goal away from Kenilworth Road.

Scott Cuthbert: 7 - Like Wilkinson, he had his hands full with U’s effectively direct approach as Cambridge looked to dominate aerially. But as with the rest of Hatters’ defence, got stronger as the game wore on.

Jonathan Smith: 7 - Got through plenty of effort once more in Town’s engine room. Was his searching ball forward that helped set up Guttridge’s opener too.

Olly Lee: 7.5 - Recovered from the crudest of shoulder charges on Dunk earlier to play his part fully. Started to dictate proceedings when Hatters were in control and shooting from range caught the eye too.

Danny Green: 7.5 - Quality deliveries shone through as he put it on a plate for Wilkinson’s crucial second. Fitness clearly improving too as he was in there to add the third and last 90 minutes too.

Josh McQuoid: 7 - Once again was employed in a wider role as he was always a threat with the ball at his feet and running at the U’s defence. Some delightful play for Luton’s clincher too.

Luke Guttridge: 8 - Midfielder was back with a bang as he showed sensational vision and no little technique to loft Dunn from 40 yards. Surely due an extended run in the side now.

Craig Mackail-Smith (STAR MAN): 8.5 - Still hailed his striker as ‘immense’ afterwards and not hard to see why. Chased, harried and just ran his absolute socks off for the 90 minutes.
