Hatters rated v Carlisle

Mark Tyler: 7 - Well protected by his ever-changing defence as Carlisle rarely sent anything meaningful his way.

Michael Harriman: 7 - Looked back to his usual steady self once more and impressive energy meant he was always quick to bomb on and overlap whenever the chance arose.

Scott Griffiths: 8 - Recalled defender was hugely impressive on his return. One of Town’s main attacking threats in the first half and then stood firm when down to 10 in the second period.

Luke Wilkinson: 7.5 - Influential display in the absence of McNulty, but unfortunately had to take one for the team as he clipped Sweeney for another Luton red.

Fraser Franks: 7 - His assuredness, particularly aerially grew as the game wore on. Still is occasionally guilty of backing off a little too much when opponents reach the Hatters area.

Andy Drury: 7 - Wider role for Drury and he became a real threat the longer the game went on. Almost brought the house down with his volley that clipped both bar and post.

Matt Robinson: 6.5 - Always has an eye for a pass and wonderful vision set up Cullen’s opener. Couldn’t ever really fully impose himself on the Cumbrians midfield though.

Jonathan Smith: 8 - Excellent display from Smith who relished the captain’s armband once more. Solid in the tackle and good going forward too.

Nathan Oduwa: 7.5 - So lively and direct in a new left wing position as he terrorised the Carlisle defence. Still learning his role though, as once or twice he went with the wrong option.

Mark Cullen (STAR MAN): 8 - Striker was back in the team and back to his best with as he was lively from the word go. Clinical finish and with the speculation over his future now ended, he could be Town’s 20-goal man.

Jayden Stockley: 7.5 - Linked well with Cullen at times as he relished the support, although didn’t always read his partner’s intention. Just never stopped running when Luton were a man light at the end.

Alex Lacey (SUB): 6 - Defender struggled at first with the physical battle but got some telling clearances in as Hatters held on.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (SUB): 5.5 - Slightly baffling display from the midfielder as clearly not yet match-fit, he wasn’t sure whether to stick or twist and ended up doing neither.

Jake Howells (SUB): 6 - On in the closing stages to help shore up the left hand side.
