Hatters rated v Carlisle United
Paul Connolly: 7 - Had his hands full at times, but like the rest of Town’s defence, was full of determination to keep an opening day shut out.
Scott Griffiths: 7.5 - Looked like he had never been away, making a host of telling clearances and interventions.

Hide AdSteve McNulty: 8 - Marshalled the defence superbly and enjoyed his battle with Billy Paynter.
Luke Wilkinson: 7.5 - Appears to have built up a good understanding with McNulty. Could see he relished the aerial battle on his Town debut.
Alex Lacey: 6.5 - New position for the defender as he was handed the holding midfield role. Distribution iffy at times, but extra height vital during second period.
Matt Robinson: 7.5 - So much energy and was still breaking up play in the closing stages. Good range of passing too.

Hide AdAndy Drury: 6.5 - Quietish game on his much-awaited return. Lovely volley flew just wide.
Jake Howells: 7 - Always a threat for Town and combined brilliantly with Benson to create Town’s opener.
Paul Benson: 7 - Worked manfully on his own upfront, particularly in the second half when he was Town’s only out ball.
Mark Cullen: 7.5 - Continued his prolific streak from pre-season with Luton’s only goal. Might have had another, while he helped out all over the pitch too.
Jim Stevenson (SUB): 6.5 - Extra legs late in the game as Town looked to make the game safe. Got forward well too.
Luke Rooney (SUB): 6.5 - Retained possession well on the flank.
