Hatters rated v Newport

Elliot Justham: 7 - Dominant display from the stopper who commanded his area well and made a good late stop from O’Connor too.

Michael Harriman: 6 - Sacrificed early on as Hatters switched to a 3-5-2. Hadn’t really been able to make the biggest impact during opening 45 minutes.

Jake Howells: 6 - Hands full with the tricky Jackson throughout and given a really tough evening by the speedy wingback.

Luke Wilkinson: 6 - Distribution once again not up to his usual high standards but desperately unlucky to see a towering header cannon against the bar.

Steve McNulty: 6 - Skipper quickly ditched the headband but would have been disappointed to concede from a long throw. Kept O’Connor quiet for the majority.

Cameron McGeehan: 6 - Didn’t feature as heavily as he would have liked once more and still not quite come to life in second spell at Kenilworth Road.

Andy Drury: 6 - Wasn’t quite into his stride as at Fratton Park on Saturday. Took up some good positions outside the box, only to see his efforts either wide or blocked.

Alex Lawless: 6.5 - Plenty of effort on the right flank and produced some decent crosses, but Newport’s defence stood firm.

Luke Guttridge: 6.5 - Linked well with Lee throughout the evening, and some clever play almost led to Town getting the away goal they so desperately wanted.

Mark Cullen: 5.5 - Frustrating night for Cullen who was buffeted and batted by Yakubu, Withdrawn early for Benson too.

Elliot Lee (STAR MAN): 7.5 - Trickery on the ball caught the eye all evening and he was so close on at least two occasions, denied by the woodwork and keeper.

Fraser Franks (SUB): 7 - Came on as Luton switched to three at the back and continued his run of impressive outings from the bench.

Paul Benson (SUB): 6 - More minutes for Benson is a plus as he gave Town the extra height that had been lacking.

Nathan Oduwa (SUB): 6 - Couldn’t match his cameo at Portsmouth. So many tricks, but final ball needs extra attention.
