Hatters rated v Oxford

Scott Cuthbert: 8 - Another excellent display from the summer signing as he seems to have perfected the art of making crucial last ditch blocks and interventions.

Steve McNulty: 8 - Defender looked to have handled Hylton well throughout the game, with Oxford’s top scorer seeing little of the ball. Helpless to prevent United’s leveller though.

Luke Wilkinson (STAR MAN): 8.5 - One of Luton’s stand out players from the opening fixtures. A real asset at both ends of the pitch and taken on the role of getting the fans going too.

Stephen O’Donnell: 7 - Got forward on plenty of occasions from the right flank, but once again, wasn’t used quite as often as he might have been by his team-mates.

Cameron McGeehan: 7 - Proves a real goal threat from the centre of midfield with his energy and ability to run beyond the strikers. A touch more composure would have sealed victory for Hatters though.

Nathan Doyle: 6.5 - Still growing into the season as he is yet to hit the heights he managed during last campaign. Thankfully ran off an early knock too as will be vital for Town’s promotion ambitions.

Paddy McCourt: 7.5 - Hatters’ go to man in the opening 20-25 minutes as he tricked and teased the visitors defence, showing wonderful vision to send Mackail-Smith though. Set-pieces caused problems too and quickly becoming the fans favourite he was always going to be.

Scott Griffiths: 7 - Defender looked comfortable in the wing back role as he attacked United’s backline, particularly in the first half. Remains to be seen whether he was the one Still was disappointed with in the huddle afterwards though.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 7 - Busy striker gave it his all as is the norm..Would have expected to score from McCourt’s early pass, but unlucky to his see his fine finish from McNulty’s free kick ruled out for offside.

Paul Benson: 7 - Linked well with Mackail-Smith as the pair rolled back the years to reform their Dagenham partnership. Might have done better than hit the bar seconds before half time from close range.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (SUB): 6 - Still getting back to full fitness and could have stepped on the accelerator a few times rather than head back towards his own goal during Luton’s breakaways.

Jonathan Smith (SUB): 5.5 - Low shot almost led to Town’s third, but substitutions seemed to affect Town’s balance.

Jack Marriott (SUB): 5.5 - Striker didn’t get long to show his talents, as his main role was chasing the ball down.
