Hatters rated v Peterborough

Mark Tyler (STAR MAN): 9 - Marvellous reception as he returned to his former club and showed just why he was selected, keeping Luton in the game almost single-handedly at times with some top saves.

Sean Long: 5.5 - Had his hands full as Posh effortlessly switched the play to either flank and struggled late on as he couldn’t get back to prevent Maddison from notching the second.

Alex Lawless: 5.5 - Strange choice at left back but there appeared little other option. Unsurprisingly didn’t ever look fully comfortable as Peterborough exploited the wings, sending over crosses galore.

Magnus Okuonghae: 5.5 - Ringrust was clearly apparent for the defender on only his second start for Town this season. Should have got tighter for the first goal while found it hard to keep up with the pace at times, but hopefully the 90 minutes will prove invaluable.

Luke Wilkinson: 6 - Town’s best defender on the day as he tried to keep Peterborough out as much as possible. Will be disappointed to miss the target with a free header at 0-0 though as could have changed the game completely.

Nathan Doyle: 5.5 - Captain for the day in place of Cuthbert and another who needed the minutes. Some nice touches but Luton were over-run in the centre for large periods.

Olly Lee: 6 - Always happy when in possession of the ball and made some intelligent passes, plus some good runs forward. Odd that he made way in the second period.

Jonathan Smith: 5 - Spent a lot of time chasing his opponents and made some decent tackles, but too often the likes of Oztumer bypassed him. Wasted a great chance at the end when he got caught in two minds.

Paddy McCourt: 6 - Much-needed game time for the Irishman who wasn’t ever allowed to dictate proceedings as Posh dominated the ball. On set-pieces though and some good deliveries saw Wilkinson go close.

Josh McQuoid: 6 - One of the better players in the first half for Town as he displayed plenty of passion and got stuck in. Lovely pass to find Mackail-Smith for his one-on-one too but faded after the break.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 6 - Ran himself into the ground as he had plenty of ground to cover upfront on his own. Superb chance to level when clean through but cut an isolated figure afterwards as lacked any real support.

Cameron McGeehan (SUB): 5 - Didn’t ever have the chance to add to his tally as Luton weren’t able to create anything meaningful.

Danny Green (SUB): 5.5 - Surprising to be left out of the starting 11 after impressing so much lately. Couldn’t really swing the influence away from Posh when he did come on.

Scott Griffiths (SUB): 5 - Replaced Lawless late on and found it tough going up against Maddison.
