Hatters rated v Shrewsbury

Mark Tyler: 7 - Far quieter evening than he would have expected, though concentration was key to make sure Collins’ cross didn’t catch him out.

Michael Harriman: 7 - Defender couldn’t get forward as much as he had done against Cambridge, but hopefully this isn’t the last seen of him in a Town shirt.

Scott Griffiths: 7.5 - Back in the side and another wholehearted display as he displayed plenty of attacking intent from left back. Denied by Leutwiler in the first half too.

Steve McNulty: 7.5 - Skipper relished his battle against Collins all evening and it’s fair to say he came out on top.

Luke Wilkinson: 7 - Was his usual dominant self in the air although some of his passing out from the back wasn’t to its usual high standards.

Nathan Doyle: 6.5 - In the right place once more, but despite a promising first period, unusually sloppy in possession as the game wore on.

Jonathan Smith: 6.5 - Committed as ever but found it hard to fully impose himself on the Shrews midfield.

Luke Rooney: 6 - Showed promise early on, but struggled to get into the game from either flank at times and was withdrawn just after the hour.

Andy Drury: 6.5 - Retained the ball well but his influence waned during the second half when Town were trying to find that elusive winner.

Jake Howells: 6.5 - So unlucky to see his low shot come back off the post as it looked like he had given Town the perfect start. Final ball didn’t quite come off at times though.

Jayden Stockley (STAR MAN): 7.5 - Very promising debut as he was the target man Town had hoped for, most noticeably in the first half with some intelligent flicks. Faded late on, but an impressive first showing.

Shaun Whalley (SUB): 7 - Much more like it from the winger as he attacked the space available and got in a number of telling deliveries.

Ricky Miller (SUB): 5.5 - Thrown on to try and pep up Town’s attack, but didn’t really affect proceedings.
