The 21-year-old has scored three goals in 11 games since joining from the Championship side, including during last weekend’s 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley.

Town boss John Still said: “That’s been extended for another month, that’s the most we can do there.

“Jayden’s done a great job for us, he really has. I think he’s been terrific for us and we all like him a lot here.

“His work-rate has been phenomenal, the one thing he can’t give us is experience and knowledge because of his age, but everything else he’s done is brilliant.”

Stockley’s loan should see him available for the next six matches, finishing at home to Exeter on Friday, April 3, when Still hopes to have Paul Benson fully bit once more.

He continued: “By then we should have Paul back, the Mark Cullen situation is resolved, so it’s not going to be too terrible.

“Without Benno, without (Alex Lawless), without Gutts (Luke Guttridge, we’ve probably lacked a bit of experience and knowledge, but certainly haven’t lacked effort, work-rate, commitment and desire, not at all.”

Stockley himself has now set his sights on helping Town break back into the top three during his stay at Kenilworth Road and believes home form will be vital, ahead of Saturday’s clash with Morecambe.

He added: “We’re looking upwards, we’re not looking below us anymore, we’ve got our eyes fixed on promotion.

“Hopefully we can creep back into the top three and stay there as our home form is brilliant.

“With games coming thick and fast, we need to put the points on the board and put the pressure on the top three.
