The 27-year-old has penned a one year contract after spending the previous two seasons playing regularly for Bradford City, including 39 appearances in League One last term.

Doyle, who has Premier League experience with Hull City, helped the Bantams to promotion in 2012/13, while also started for the club in their League Cup final appearance against Swansea City.

He was released from Valley Parade at the end of the season and on signing him, boss John Stil told the club’s website: “Nathan is a top quality player and I think we’re very fortunate to be able to bring him to Kenilworth Road.

“He’s only 27 but he’s played over 250 games – most of them in the Championship, which underlines his ability.

“He barely missed a game for Bradford last season and was a driving force behind their success the season before last. He’s got masses of big-game experience and knows what it takes to get out of League Two.

“He’s a very good player, capable of playing in a number of positions, but he’s a central midfielder who can pass, create and break-up play. We’re confident he can be a great success with us.”

Doyle will wear squad number 26.
