The Hatters went behind in the ninth minute as Tom Soares climbed above Scott Griffiths to nod the only goal of the game past Elliot Justham.

John Still’s side threatened sporadically in the first half as Luke Guttridge was denied by a wonderful save by Shakers keeper Nick Pope.

Although second best for long periods, Luton almost grabbed a point as Guttridge forced Pope into a another reflex block, with the stopper also palming aside Cameron McGeehan’s injury time header.
