Howells has no complaints after sub role

Hatters midfielder Jake Howells didn’t have any complaints about being on the bench for the second game in succession at the weekend.

The 23-year-old started against Morecambe the previous Saturday but was then amongst the substitutes as Town beat Bury 1-0 in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

He said: “I think the boys deserved to play again after winning on Tuesday against Bury.

“Roons (Luke Rooney) played wide left where I usually try and play and got his goal again.

“As a team we want to go up and no individual is going to go up on his own.

“Us winning means we’re winning as a team and we’re going forward.”

Howells did come on for the final 20 minutes and made quite an impression, netting in stoppage time.

He has now made 295 appearances for the club too and is just five short of joining an elite band of 21 players who have played 300 times for the Hatters.
