Jadon Sancho breaks former Luton striker Brian Stein's record with his hat-trick for Borussia Dortmund
Ex-Luton striker Brian Stein saw his 31-year record as the last English player to score an overseas hat-trick in one of Europe’s major leagues broken by England starlet Jadon Sancho last night.
The 20-year-old former Manchester City youngster was on target three times in the second half for Borussia Dortmund as they thrashed Paderborn 6-1 in the Bundesliga, to become the first English player to bag a treble since Stein did for French side Caen against Cannes in Ligue 1 on May 31, 1989.

Stein then left Luton in the summer of 1988 and headed to France, where he signed for Caen.
It was in the final game of the 1988-89 season that he achieved his feat, during a match that he had initially started on the bench, coming on for Yvan Lebourgeois after 21 minutes.
He took just four minutes to find the net, before also scoring in the 85th and 90 minute to secure a 3-0 victory over a visiting side who introduced a certain Real Madrid manager and World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane midway through the second period.
