Luton attacker Kazenga LuaLua earned some high praise for his role in the Hatters 1-0 win over local rivals Watford on Saturday.

The 30-year-old was making just his third start in the Championship this season, completing a first 90 minutes since October 20 as well, as he was to prove a real threat to the Hornets defence all afternoon.

He got the better of experienced full back Kiko Femenia too, the Hornets defender booked for a needless foul on 72 minutes and then dismissed in the closing stages for pointlessly bundling the attacker over as he tried to reach a ball over the top.

The former Brighton and Newcastle winger is out of contract in the summer, but when asked about his performance, Jones said: “(He was) Wonderful, I thought he was excellent, he was disciplined, he was a threat.

“We worked on certain things about him stretching play and getting in the box and things which are not natural to him as when he gets the ball he’s very talented, but in terms of the running off the ball and the movement and the work-rate, he was excellent.

"We knew we’d need a squad over a 46-game season, so certainly people have to be patient.

“When people have to be patient they have to work hard so that they know that they’re ready as that’s the group we have.

“If you don’t, then when you do get an opportunity, it’s easy to say, ‘well I haven’t played,’ but we’ve got a good group here.”
