Lawless focused on an end to Town’s losing run

Town midfielder Alex Lawless is desperate for Luton to halt the awful slump they’re in against Exeter City this weekend.

The 30-year-old opened the scoring during Hatters’ trip to Northampton at the weekend, but saw the Cobblers hit back to make it six defeats from six for Town.

Luton are now out of the play-offs for the first time since October and host Exeter on Friday before travelling to relegation-threatened Tranmere on Easter Monday.

Lawless said: “Our aim from the start of the season is get promotion.

“We’re around the play-offs now, but the next thing is get a win and change the form, that’s the most important thing at the minute.

“I felt as though if we got a result against Wycombe things would turn round, same against Northampton.

“It’s frustrating when it’s not, but we’re most definitely not going to give up.

“There’s now two games in quick succesion and we’ll be right up for Friday to put it right.”

Although Lawless admitted the players have been concerned by their alarming plummet down the table, no-one is shirking the challenge ahead, whiel despite netting his third goal of the season at Sixfields, he would have happily sacrificed personal glory for a long overdue victory,
