Leicester midfielder Dewsbury-Hall aiming for a 'strong' finish to the season with Luton

Luton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wants the Hatters to start what he hopes will be a strong finish to the campaign when they entertain play-off chasing Barnsley at Kenilworth Road this afternoon.

Town have eight games of the season to go and are already in a healthy position with 50 points to their name, 15 points ahead of the relegation zone.

Going into the contest with the Tykes, Dewsbury-Hall wants Luton to bounce back from the defeat to Derby on Good Friday and start gaining some momentum for next term, saying: “We have progressed this season and we’re in a position where we’re not going to get relegated and we’re looking to build for next season.

“We just need to keep putting performances in that are going to be positive going into the next season and try to win as many games as possible as we want to finish strong.

“That will build momentum and that’s what it’s all about now going into the final stages of the season."

To do so, Town will have to defeat a Barnsley side who have done superbly this year, winning nine out of 10 Championship matches to shoot up into the top six places.

They then travel to bottom side Wycombe Wanderers next weekend, before hosting fierce rivals Watford, a contest that Dewsbury-Hall knows is a huge match for Hatters fans.

Dewsbury-Hall continued: "We’ve got some big games coming up, Barnsley are doing well, they’ve got their own style of play that we’ve got to adapt to.

“We’ve got Watford, I know even on loan it’s a massive game, a big rivalry, so we're getting ready for a massive week ahead.

"Luckily for me we can get this (Derby defeat) out of our head quick as we’ve got another game soon, and a massive week, if we can get some positive results there, we can go into the rest of the season optimistic.”

The 2-0 defeat at Derby on Good Friday saw the Hatters fail to score for the 11th time this term, as they have only managed a mere nine goals on their travels.

Asked why he thought finding the net away from home was proving so difficult, Dewsbury-Hall added: “I’m not sure what it is as we do create chances.

"There have been games where its been scrappy games, not many chances, but today we created chances and I just feel like we’re not getting the rub of the green.

"Teams play differently at home, it’s a tough one, but we’re always working on the training pitch on ways to break teams down.

"I feel like the more we evolve and the more we’re comfortable in this league, that will come, but it's about sticking with it and hopefully it will improve.”
