Luton head to Everton this weekend looking for a first victory over their opponents at Goodison Park since winning a Division One contest 2-0 back on September 24, 1988.
That day, the Hatters came out on top thanks to second half goals from David Oldfield and Kingsley Black, eventually getting past an inspired display from Toffees goalkeeper Neville Southall.

Defender helped Town keep out an Everton front two of Sharp and Cottee on Merseyside, as he played 36 matches for Luton, a mainstay of the Hatters back-line throughout the campaign. Netted three goals as well, two in losing causes, but did bag a winner as Middlesbrough were defeated 1-0 at Kenilworth Road. Photo: Hatters Heritage
One his last games of what was a lengthy first spell at Luton, as following a decade of service, he was sold to Manchester United for £650,000 after the 1-0 victory over Liverpool. Northern Ireland international departed with Town having kept three successive clean sheets, although did return for a brief stint on loan the following campaign. Photo: Getty Images
Finished as the club's joint top scorer that season with nine goals from his 37 matches, including five in his last six outings to top the charts with Kingsley Black. Thought he had added another to his tally when meeting Kingsley Black’s cross from eight yards out, but for Toffees keeper Neville Southall’s superb reactions. Photo: Hatters Heritage
Went on a terrific run on the right hand side to evade Kevin Radcliffe's challenge, but couldn't beat Southall, who stood up excellently. Did finally manage to get the better of the Wales international when his follow up from Black’s shot thundered into the bottom corner, for what was his only goal that season in the 21 outings he had for Luton.
