Defender Tom Lockyer is confident that Town’s strikers can start putting the ball in the back of the net again after hitting a barren run recently.

Away from Kenilworth Road, the Hatters drew yet another blank during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers, making it just two league goals on the road in eight games.

Town's recognised strikers have also struggled at home recently as well, with no forward on target anywhere since James Collins bagged a treble against Preston North End on December 12, making it 10 games in total.

However, Lockyer said: “You always want to be scoring goals and you always want to be banging them in, but that’s not always the case and prolific strikers in this league are expensive.

“We’ve got a good strikeforce and I think it’s just a matter of time as as I see the work they do, day in day out in training.

"So for them it’s just a matter of time.”

Although Luton didn’t miss any glaring chances at Ewood Park, they didn’t make the most of some excellent opportunities, particularly when Harry Cornick opted to find a team-mate rather than go for goal in the second period.

Lockyer continued: “I’m absolutely gutted, we didn’t deserve that, it’s as simple as that, we didn’t deserve that.

"That being said, we have to start being more clinical, especially away from home, try and get some goals.

"As if we nick that 1-0, no-one questions anything and that could have been easily done.”

Meanwhile, with the Hatters now on a run of four games from six at home, and seven out of 11 in total, starting with Huddersfield's visit tomorrow, Lockyer wants to make the most of the advantage.

He added: "It feels like we haven’t been back home in ages.

"It will be good to get a run there and hopefully we can get our home form going again and pick up a few results.”
