Luton defender Tom Lockyer doesn’t want his side to be cast in the role of plucky losers after their defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The Hatters put in an excellent performance at Ewood Park, but were beaten by a late Adam Armstrong goal, as the hosts took full advantage of a quickly taken drop ball, to net the winner.

It was the same against Brentford recently too, where Luton produced an hugely promising second half display in which they fully deserved at least a point, but poor finishing saw them return home empty-handed once more.

It means that Town have taken just three points from their last four Championship games, that coming in a fine 1-0 win at Bournemouth, as Lockyer said: “You don’t want to be one of those teams that does really well and gets unlucky, I’d rather play abysmally and win 1-0 every week.

“Performance-wise, you want to be performing well as then you know results are only a matter of time.

“If you keep performing well, you can’t be unlucky forever.

“This is a results business, so results are the main things at the end of the day.

“But if the performances are there and the results aren’t, it’s when the performances aren’t and the results aren’t, that’s when you have to worry.”
