The recent addition on a month’s loan from Reading is expected to make his home debut at right back against the O’s and after seeing over 1,400 leave Crawley disappointed at the weekend, wants to reverse that this evening.

He said: “I looked it up and they get great support from Luton fans, so hopefully on Tuesday we can put on a better performance for the full 90 minutes and send them home with a smile on their face.

“The first half (against Crawley) I thought we did all right, but it meant nothing with that second half performance, it just wasn’t good enough.

“We have to focus on Tuesday now and hopefully get the result that we want.”

On just how Luton were so good in the first half and so bad in the second during their 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils on Saturday, as they saw their five game unbeaten run ended, Long continued: “I think maybe we just went into the second half thinking we were going to defend the 1-0 lead.

“That sucked us into the type of football that Crawley wanted to play, the long ball. There are some positives from the first half we need to build on though.

“We got out, got forward, passed, got crosses into the box, mixed up our play, so there is the recipe there.

“But we lost 2-1 and need to do better than that. If we can get that going for the full 90 minutes, we’ll give any team problems.”
