Luton boss Nathan Jones has revealed the club are already well on their way to hopefully securing some of their targets in the summer transfer window.

With Town finishing the Championship campaign in 12th place following a 3-1 defeat at QPR yesterday, thoughts will now turn quickly to bolstering the squad for the new campaign which begins in August.

Jones confirmed that a few of those incomings are already well in hand, saying: “We are well down the line with certain things that we want to do for next year and we want to be better next year.

“It seems an impossible job with the resources we have available, but that’s the job we do here and that’s constant and it’s an exciting task of improving what we have.”

Jones will also announce his retained list in the next few days, with some first team regulars like James Collins, Sonny Bradley and Matty Pearson all out of contract, along with George Moncur, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Kazenga LuaLua and Martin Cranie.

On where the club is with those calls, Jones added: “We’re pretty sure on all those decisions, some are a bit down the line.

“We realise it’s difficult to keep all those players and to keep doing the things that we do, so there’ll be tough decisions to make.

“We’ll have to work hard in the summer, we have to have a good summer now to come out of it in a better position than we were this time last year.”
