Luton chief won't be making any 'knee-jerk' reactions to his side against Barnsley despite 'makeshift' nature of Town's defence

Hatters boss Nathan Jones isn’t planning to make any 'knee-jerk' reactions to his side against Barnsley this afternoon following the 2-0 defeat at Derby County on Good Friday despite once again going into the game with a 'makeshift' defence.

With Tom Lockyer and Sonny Bradley both absent, the pair now not featuring for nine and seven matches respectively, Jones was also without full back Dan Potts for the last three fixtures too, after he went off with a head injury against Swansea City.

That has seen summer signing Jordan Clark drop into an emergency left back role for the past few games, while Kal Naismith has moved to centre half following his transfer window move from Wigan Athletic.

Jones said: “We’ll dust everyone down, we’ll see where we are, we should be fresh so I don’t need to make too many knee-jerk reactions, as we’ve been in real good form.

“It’s (the defence) massively makeshift and we keep losing people all the time.

"I brought Kal Naismith in to cover a number of positions, one of those being wide right and (James) Bree’s gathering momentum, Matty Pearson, so it's the other two.

"Jordan Clark has done magnificently well in terms of playing left back having come here as a right winger, it is makeshift but that’s what we have to do at the minute.

“We have to dust ourselves down and go again, as I want us to get a bit of rhythm.”
