Luton continue to look at on trial striker

TOWN manager Gary Brabin will continue to run the rule over the mystery striker currently on trial at Kenilworth Road, writes Mike Simmonds.

Brabin gave the forward, believed to be Romano Denneboom, who has won one cap for Holland, a chance to impress in a friendly at Hitchin Town on Tuesday night and now wants to see the player at close quarters in training, before coming to a decision.

The boss said: “We’ve brought someone in and as much him as us, we wanted to keep it low key.

“He wants to get himself fit, he’s keen to come over to England, he’s got a good pedigree and is quite close to a good friend of mine.

“At the moment, it’s no more than that. We’ve set out a plan, he’s definitely going to be here for two weeks, we just don’t want to be alerting anyone.

“It could be something, it could be nothing, but why hinder that by alerting people to that.

“A lot of people are trying to make it difficult for us already, so it’s not a cloak and dagger issue, we’re just respecting the lads wishes.

“He’s a good player, (he’s) certainly got the ability, we just need to know if he’s fit enough to come straight in to improve us.”
