Luton kids finish above Bayer Leverkusen and Rapid Vienna in Austria

ALL three of Luton Town’s teams who were in action at the Cordial Cup in Austria at the beginning of June shone in their age groups.

There were 48 teams competing in each of the U15, U13 and U11 age groups and all three of the young Hatters sides recorded top eight finishes.

The 11-a-side outdoor tournament took place in the Tirol region of Austria with the U15s finishing eighth overall.

Along the way they beat the likes of FC Nuremberg and Borussia Mönchengladbach and finished above Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha Berlin, Mainz and St Gallen, in a section won by Basel.

The U13s lost to eventual winners Nuremberg in the semi-finals of their age group as they finished fourth, having knocked out Feyenoord in the second round and came ahead of teams from Bayern Munich, Karlsruhe and Basel.

Town’s U11s, meanwhile, ended up seventh after losing to FC Zurich in the quarter-finals. They finished above the likes of Rapid Vienna, Hertha Berlin, St Gallen and Bayer Leverkusen.
