Luton legends help celebrate Hatters birthday

Rousing Kenilworth Road reception for stars of the past

LEGENDS from throughout Hatters’ history were welcomed at Kenilworth Road on Saturday to help the club celebrate its 125th anniversary, write Mark Wood and Mike Simmonds.

While the stars of today strutted their stuff on the pitch and guided Luton to a 3-1 win against Bath City, it was the household names of yesteryear who were given a rapturous reception when paraded in front of fans at the break.

More recent stars like Tony Thorpe, Kingsley Black, Mark Pembridge, Marvin Johnson and Rob Johnson, were joined by the likes of Keith Allen, Jake Findlay Dick Wassall, the old groundsman, David Coates, a coach under David Pleat, Kirk Stephens, Ron Baynham, Alan Daniel, John Moore and Bernard Moore.

All were given a fantastic reception as the Hatters celebrated their birthday in style.
