Town defender Brendan Galloway might be sent out on loan in a bid to get back to full fitness for the Hatters.

The 24-year-old was restricted to just five appearances last season after suffering a horrific ruptured patella during the 7-0 defeat at Brentford and has only just made his first tentative steps back into match action.

He featured against Berkhamsted in Town’s first pre-season friendly and then played the final half an hour during Luton’s 3-0 warm-up win over Northampton on Saturday.

With Jones strengthening his squad today, bringing in full back Rhys Norrington-Davies on a season-long loan deal from Sheffield United, it means that with Dan Potts close to a return too, Galloway's chances of gaining some much-needed game-time might be limited.

Jones said about the former Everton youngster: "With Brendan we've got to take it very slowly, so any time we put any massive load into him, he reacts not in a good way to that.

"We've got to take it slowly with that and do our due diligence.

“Brendan needs some game time and he may have to get that elsewhere to get up to speed, but we'll cross that bridge when we have to.

"We have to get him to a point where he's able to handle the intensity of the games."
