Luton U18s earn point against Brighton

LUTON Town U18s earned a fine point against Puma Combination table-toppers Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend with a 1-1 draw.

Boss Paul Driver made two changes to the side from the 3-0 defeat to Southend last time out with Tinashe Chabata and Jemale McKenzie-Lowe starting in place of Arel Amu and Zac Stephens.

The Hatters were thankful to a goal-line clearance from Jerome Jibodu and Ben Barnes’ save to keep the scores goalless, while Jake Woolley and Colby McAdams, pictured above, looked dangerous for Town.

Zane Barton replaced Mason Blake at the interval, only to see Brighton take the lead on 47 minutes when Tom Vickers netted with a firm header from eight yards.

Town maintained their passing game, while defensively, James Ferguson and Chabata worked well to deny the Brighton forwards any time and space.

Arel Amu replaced McKenzie-Lowe and caused problems with his direct running, while McAdams crossed for Woolley to flick a header over.

The equaliser arrived on 79 minutes when McAdams’ corner was cleared as far as Jibodu and from 30-yards out, his spectacular volley flew into the top corner of the net.
