Marriott aware promotion is the aim for Hatters

Despite heading the table at times last campaign and spending over six months in the top seven, Luton missed out on even a play-off place in the end and Marriott appears to relish the pressure of trying to return the club to League One at the second attempt too.

He said: “I’ve come from a different place and I know full well that Luton want to be pushing for promotion as that’s the kind of ambition they have at this club and it’s a very attractive trait to have.

“We just missed out on the play-offs this year, so everyone’s desperate for that promotion. We want to push really hard, give it our best efforts and hopefully be rewarded.”

Marriot is one of four signings made by Town so far this summer, as Still completes a much-needed overhaul of his squad.

The boss released 10 and put six on the transfer list with Ross Lafayette the first to leave last week.

Experienced defender Scott Cuthbert has also joined, along with promising youngsters Dan Potts and Cameron McGeehan, with the ex-Ipswich forward excited by the group of players being put together.
