The 20-year-old signed permanently at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday afternoon and is confident, with a new stadium and the right backing, there’s no reason they can’t achieve his ultimate aim.

McGeehan said: “I want to help Luton progress up the leagues and the idea is to play in the Premier League with Luton one day, like Swansea have and like Brentford nearly did this year.

“There’s talk about a new stadium and I think John Still will get us up the leagues, the fanbase is there, so there’s no reason why we can’t do it.”

First and foremost on McGeehan’s agenda though is a return to League One next season as he continued: “There’s no reason why we can’t get up to League One next year, that should be our goal, we have to do that.”

Although McGeehan’s former club Norwich were celebrating a promotion of their own to the Premier League, he didn’t have any hesitation in dropping back to League Two once more and play in front of a set of supporters who have taken him to heart during his previous two spells.
