Newton plays the waiting game after Town departure

EX-HATTERS utility man Adam Newton is being forced to play the waiting game after he was released by the club earlier this month, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 31-year-old former Peterborough and Brentford player made 66 appearances and scored four goals for Town, but was one of the first casualties along with striker Lloyd Owusu when manager Gary Brabin began his squad-trimming exercise.

Newton said: “It’s been a bit quiet really, no clubs have been in contact as of yet.

“I don’t know if it’s too early or whatever, but just to play football again would be nice.”
