No crisis of confidence at Luton according to Okuonghae

Hatters head to Cambridge this afternoon as one of only three teams in the division not to taste victory, but Okuonghae believes the experienced group of players put together by manager John Still has been able deal with the poor start.

He said: “The good thing is the heads haven’t dropped. We know we caused our own problems and everyone is aware of the strength of our squad within the dressing room.

“It’s a case of continuing to work hard and at some point it’s going to flip as wins will breed more confidence, that goes without saying.

“There’s no dropped heads after five games and there’s way too much experience and too much knowledge in that dressing room for it not to click that’s for sure.

“We know what we’re capable of and know at some point we’ll fulfil that potential and after that it will be very hard for teams to stop us.”

Striker Josh McQuoid agreed that staying positive was the only way for Town’s players to approach this weekend, saying: “You’ve just got to keep going, you can’t get your heads down, that’s the worst thing to do.

“We’ll keep going as we know we’ve got good players, know we’ve got a good squad. We just have to make sure these tiny little mistakes that are costing us goals don’t happen.”

Meanwhile, Okuonghae has been an interested spectator in recent weeks as he continues to recover from rupturing his Achilles for previous club Colchester.

He’s been impressed too, even with the 2-1 defeat to Portsmouth last weekend, adding: “I watched the game against Portsmouth and thought the boys did brilliant and were hard done by in the end.

“Considering the way we’ve started and the way they’ve started, to go out there and play the way we did, as when you win games you get confidence, so you’re expecting them to come here and run all over us.

“That wasn’t the case, the boys are positive and think it’s only a matter of time.”
