Owusu shock at Luton exit

STRIKER Lloyd Owusu admitted he has been left stunned by the dramatic turnaround in his Luton Town career after he was released last week, writes Mike Simmonds.

Owusu had been one of the first names on the team sheet under former boss Richard Money, but barely featured when Gary Brabin took over, starting just two games.

The writing was on the wall for the 34-year-old when he was left out of the squad for the Blue Square Bet Premier Play-Off Final at Eastlands in favour of Danny Crow, despite being on the bench in both semi-final legs against Wrexham.

Owusu said: “I thought it was a bit disrespectful getting pulled 20 minutes before the game.

“No disrespect to Crowy as he’s a great player, but he had been out for 8-10 weeks and just come back.

“If he was such an important player, why wasn’t he involved on the day?”
