The 22-year-old only recently returned from a six game absence at Cambridge United last weekend, but manager John Still revealed the former West Ham man was still not completely over his hamstring injury.

He said: “He’s not quite right. He played a little bit of a game on Saturday, and then he played 45 minutes in a development game (against Bournemouth on Tuesday), but he’s not quite right.

“So we just need to pull him back for a week or two and hopefully he’ll be ready. We could push him and he might break down and we’ll lose him for longer, so we’ll just put the reins on him for a week or maybe 10 days.”

As he confirmed in the News/Gazette on Wednesday, Still also confirmed the likes of Steve McNulty, Nathan Doyle and Scott Griffiths are all expected to be fit.

He added: “We were disappointed to have the illness, but it’s all over and done now.

“The aftershock of that was Shaun (Whalley) who took a little bit longer to get over it, but they’ve all trained since.

“They’re all available for selection, one of them is a touch behind in his training and may not start though.”
