Luton midfielder Glen Rea insists he feels there is something ‘good in the air’ at Kenilworth Road this season.

The Hatters have made an impressive start to their second campaign in the Championship, carrying on the form that saw them escape relegation on the final day last term with 16 points from 27 games, to sit ninth in the table after eight matches.

With four wins and a draw to their name already, Rea said: “It’s unbelievable, but it’s the start of the season isn’t it.

“We are where we are and we’re happy with that, but we’re no way going to rest on our laurels, we’re going to keep going.

“I said it when I signed my contract, I feel like there’s something good in the air that’s going to happen.

“At the minute we’re doing well and lets hope it carries on, we’re not going to take our foot off the gas, we’re not going to do that.

“We’re going to carry on, and let's see where we can end up.

“It’s a long season, the games are coming so thick and fast, it’s going to be tough, but who knows what can happen.”

Rea was one of five players to sign on the dotted line in the summer, with Luke Berry, Danny Hylton, Elliot Lee and Kazenga LuaLua all extending their futures at Kenilworth Road.

Town also added the likes of Jordan Clark, Rhys Norrington-Davies, James Bree and Tom Lockyer to their ranks before boss Nathan Jones beat the deadline to bring in midfielders Joe Morrell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, plus striker Sam Nombe as well.

It has led to some real options for boss Nathan Jones, as Rea continued: “It's unbelievable, if one comes out the one that comes in does the same job and that’s what we’ve always had under the gaffer.

"So it’s nice that we know if someone comes out, with the fixtures that are coming, the person that comes in is going to do exactly the same job.

"It’s nice to have that real strength in depth in the squad, everyone in there is fighting for a place, and everyone’s getting a go with the games being thick and fast.”

The Hatters go up against a Brentford side this afternoon who hammered them 7-0 at Griffin Park last term, before Luton gained revenge with a 2-1 success on home soil.

Rea doesn't think there will be any scars remaining in Town's playing personnel ahead of a fifth game in 15 days, adding: "I've not really seen their results and last season is last season, this season is this season.

"We’re not going to worry about what’s happened in the past and we go into every game with confidence.

"We know that they’re a good team and they’re a top, top Championship team, but so are Nottingham Forest.

"So if we can go and play like we did in the first half (of the 1-1 draw on Wednesday night), hopefully we can do well and we’re going to go into the game with confidence that we can do well.

“It is too much (congested fixture list), but it is what it is, and we’ve got a great squad that we feel can hopefully deal with it.

"So we’re not moaning about the schedule or anything like that, we’re just focused on going out there and trying to get the three points."
